Independence Day

I was thinking, today is a day where we celebrate the fact that we have freedom. God gave us the freedom to do anything we want, no matter how bad it is for us. Yet, we get to have the freedom to choose to obey God. I don't know about you, but when I think about freedom I think about not having to do what people tell me. Yet, God ALLOWS us to do what He asks, it's not something we HAVE to do, it's someting we GET to do. I just thought that it was really cool that we have been given the freedom to follow after God's heart. That's something we get to do, it was just really cool to me. There is freedom in not being free to sin, but being free to serve God! So I started looking at verses about freedom when I was reading my bible tonight and I came across this verse, it's 2 Corinthians 3:17 and it says: "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." We are free when we serve God because He in and of Himself IS freedom. It's a very exciting thing to think of while I'm getting ready to go to Ecuador this week and I hope it's something exciting for you to think of as you go along being free to serve God.
